The story of Trine

  1. Astral Academy

    You were Zoya the thief, Amadeus the wizard, and Pontius the knight. The kingdom had fallen into chaos after its king died, and an undead army had driven people from their homes. At the abandoned Astral Academy, Zoya reached for a treasure. Amadeus and Pontius touched it too. A flash of light bound your three souls together.

  2. The Guardian's Tomb

    You wanted your separate lives back. Amadeus recognized the object as the Trine and led you beneath the Academy to a Guardian's tomb. Its inscriptions described three protected artifacts. Yours governed soul and righteousness. Another, governing mind and power, belonged in the kingdom's great castle. You crossed the Dragon Graveyard, following that lead through land overrun by the dead.

  3. The Great Castle

    You reached a castle that the undead had already seized. The artifact of mind and power was missing. Instead, you found the Old King's journal. His descriptions of ancient forest ruins matched the Guardian's inscriptions. Amadeus believed those ruins had been the Guardians' home. With no artifact to recover here, you followed the king's directions into the forest.

  4. Ruins of the Perished

    You searched the Ruins of the Perished for the third artifact, which governed body and matter. Its shrine lay broken after an earthquake, and someone had stolen it. Joined with the artifact of mind, but separated from the Trine, its power had produced the undead. You now understood that freeing yourselves required bringing all three artifacts back together.

  5. The Evil Tower

    You saw a dark tower rising where none had stood before. The missing artifacts were there, at the heart of the corruption. You broke through its gates and passed the forge where the undead made weapons and armor. Then you climbed toward the summit. The Old King's lingering spirit opposed you as you carried the Trine toward the other artifacts.

  6. Souls Set FreeThe ending

    You reunited the artifacts, broke the spell binding you, and freed what remained of the Old King's soul. The undead threat ended, and life returned. A new king rewarded you: as Pontius, you became his royal ale provider; as Zoya, you received the forest to rule. As Amadeus, you married Margaret and had triplets. Your souls were separate again, and the kingdom was at peace.
