  1. The Black Gate

    You were Talion, a ranger guarding Mordor’s Black Gate. Sauron’s servants overran the garrison and captured your family. The Black Hand sacrificed your wife Ioreth, your son Dirhael, and you in a ritual. You returned bound to an Elven wraith who had lost his memory. Together, you hunted the Black Captains and sought a way to end your unnatural existence.

  2. The Wraith

    You followed Gollum to relics that stirred the wraith’s memories. He was Celebrimbor, the Elven smith who had made the Rings of Power. Sauron had deceived him while appearing as Annatar, the Lord of Gifts. Gollum hoped this lost ringmaker could lead him to his precious Ring. You pursued the memories while Celebrimbor’s powers helped you fight through Mordor.

  3. The Hammer

    You helped the Orc Ratbag climb the ranks by killing his superiors. You also worked with Hirgon, a deserter sheltering human outcasts. Together, you struck at a monument to Sauron to draw out the Black Hand. The Hammer came instead. He struck down Ratbag, then faced you in battle. You killed him, but your family’s murderer remained beyond reach.

    You followed Lithariel south to her mother, Queen Marwen, who guided you toward another relic and urged you to command an Orc army. You discovered that Saruman was possessing Marwen and helped Lithariel free her. You still used Celebrimbor’s power to dominate Sauron’s soldiers. Which Orcs served you depended on your actions, but you assembled an army for the assault.

  5. The Tower

    You led your army against Ered Glamhoth, expecting the Black Hand. The Tower waited there instead. He revealed that Celebrimbor was keeping you alive and could release you. After killing the Tower, you confronted your companion. Celebrimbor admitted he had given you the means to take revenge. You continued together toward the Black Gate to finish hunting the Black Hand.

  6. The Ringmaker

    You reached the Black Hand, whose magic forced Celebrimbor’s last memories into view. The smith had taken the One Ring and used it to turn an Orc army against Sauron. At the decisive moment, the Ring had abandoned him. Sauron had murdered his wife and daughter before killing him with his own hammer. Your companion had suffered a loss like yours.

  7. A New RingThe ending

    You watched the Black Hand cut his throat, drawing Celebrimbor out of you and allowing Sauron to take bodily form through him. Dying again, you struck while Celebrimbor restrained Sauron from within. You destroyed the possessed body, but Sauron endured. Celebrimbor wanted to depart in peace. You chose to continue the fight together and declared that you would make a new Ring.
