The story of Blasphemous

6 parts, from the opening to the ending (where it turned on your choices, what every ending shares). Read it before Blasphemous 2. This page tells the ending.

Blasphemous's page
  1. The Silent Brotherhood

You were the Penitent One, a silent warrior who woke among the dead of the Brotherhood of the Silent Sorrow. Cvstodia had been twisted by the Miracle, which made guilt and devotion painfully physical. Armed with Mea Culpa, you began a pilgrimage toward the Cradle of Affliction. Deogracias became your guide and gave you a thorn to carry.

  2. The Three Humiliations

You crossed ruined churches, buried chambers, and frozen heights to perform the Three Humiliations. Ten Piedad, Tres Angustias, and Our Lady of the Charred Visage stood between you and the Holy Visages. You overcame them and earned passage toward the Mother of Mothers. At the bridge, your encounter with Esdras depended on whether you had found his sister Perpetva’s resting place.

  3. Mother of Mothers

You entered the great church and reached the Knot of the Three Words. Deogracias told you how a boy’s plea for punishment had become the First Miracle, twisting his body into wood. Your ascent continued through the cathedral and its surrounding heights. Three masks opened the great lift’s way toward Escribar, the holy ruler waiting in the highest tower.

  4. Crisanta’s Faith

You faced Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony on the cathedral rooftops. She guarded Escribar and condemned your pilgrimage as heresy. What happened to her depended on your path. If you had followed the hidden route through Esdras and the imprisoned Holy Visage, you could break the hold of her faith. Otherwise, you defeated her without freeing her from it.

  5. Beyond Escribar

You confronted Escribar and overcame his monstrous form, the Last Son of the Miracle. Beyond him waited a mountain of ashes and the throne above it. Your penance determined whether you could ascend. On the hidden route, Crisanta’s aid took you farther still: you overcame Escribar again and joined her in destroying the High Wills behind your suffering.

  6. The Price of PenanceThe ending

Your ending depended on your path. If unworthy, you sank into the ashes, and Deogracias recovered your helmet. If worthy, you reached the throne, pierced yourself with Mea Culpa, and became a tree, the Miracle’s new sacred figure. If you destroyed the High Wills, Mea Culpa crumbled and you were laid to rest by Crisanta and Deogracias. Above that burial, a vast heart appeared in the sky with a figure curled inside.
